Poodle skirts and bobby socks, greasers and hot rods, and the unmistakable sound of doo-wop. It’s Saturday night at the malt shop!
The
Fifties saw a brand-new phenomenon burst on the scene – this exciting, daring
new sound called Rock ‘n Roll. Parents shuddered, teenagers rushed out to buy
the latest record, dance the latest dance and try out the latest phrase. We
learned how to say “Cool, man, cool!” and “Way out!”. Girls became “chicks” and
guys answered to “Daddy-O”. And behind it all was that pulsating new sound.
Drift back to the days of ’56 T-birds and ’57 Chevys …
when the beverage of choice was a cherry Coke and the major food groups were
burgers and fries. Ride the magic carpet of music to the sounds of “The Book of Love”, “Blue Moon,” “Yakety Yak” and “Come Go with Me.” Sing
along with with the classics of the 50’s – “La Bamba”, “Silhouettes” and “In
the Still of the Night.”
